With thoughts of back-to-school in the air, we are pleased to announce that the Backpacks 101 Project for 2012 has been a great success! By the end of all of our deliveries, we will have filled over 140 backpacks! As with each year, we would like to thank our individual contributors who always make such an impact on our cause.
This summer, the project was delighted to receive a financial donation from SCOTIABANK. This contribution meant that each backpack was filled with all the supplies including calculators, USB sticks, geometry sets, locks and more for the students in High School as well as the usual list for our elementary students. Thank you Scotiabank! In addition to this donation, the staff at the Islington/Queensway branch have collected supplies to add to our many donations.
Another sponsor this year is Polk Canada. We welcome the staff who are taking part in filling backpacks for a fourth shelter inspired by KIA's Drive Change Event. Polk Canada's contribution means that more kids will receive filled backpacks this year thereby surpassing our goal of 120 backpacks to more than 150!
Polk Canada will continue to accept donations at their office until August 17th. If you would like to make a donation to the 2012 Backpacks 101 Project between August 1 and August 17th, please drop it off at the Polk Canada office at 703 Evans Avenue, Suite 503. (South of Sherway Mall). Please contact Belle Alves to arrange drop off at Belle_Alves@polk.com.
Thank you again to all of you who contributed, your help has made a difference in the lives of over 140 children!
